I am not going to lie, but after 4 years of making packed lunches for Mini, it is not my favourite job, especially as he has an aversion to sandwiches! So when Herley’s got in touch with me to work with them on their lunchtime talks campaign I jumped at the chance as there must be lots of people like me who get stuck in a lunch box rut.
I think as parents we all want to do what is best for our families. I know for a fact that I do and I want to encourage them to make healthy choices when it comes to food, which is why I have to say I was intrigued when I was recently a taste tester for Rowntrees. I never had any indication that the Randoms and Fruit Pastilles had 30% less sugar.
My boys are bottomless. Sometimes it seems they do nothing but eat and when they get home from school they are ravenous. So much so they will grab anything they can find and there is not thought to its nutrition. So as a parent it is down to me to make sure we have a selection of healthy after school snacks available and to help them make the right choice.
I don’t know about your family, but my family love miniature versions of anything and these bite-size twice baked potato bites make for an easy and yummy snack or side. They are super simple to prepare in advance and then warm up later. I always have to make extra as they want them again the day after.
We are a little late to the smoothie and juices thing here. I guess that is due to us not having a powerful blender and the boys not liking bits in their smoothies, but we have put all that right over the last couple of weeks and are now smoothie pros! So much so that we have a freezer full of make-ahead smoothie packs for kids.
We have been selected by Ryvita to be part of their “revoluncheonary” team and share with you our lunches over the next few weeks. My boys are big fans of Ryvita, so we jumped at the chance to share with you some delicious family friendly lunches. This simple sweet lunch is often a weekend treat for us all.
